About us

We are a small team of dedicated, young individuals passionate about empowering our community. With voting season right around the corner, we understand how confusing and complicated the voting process can be. Thus, we would love to meet with you and help answer any questions you may have. Join us in making a difference, one informed voter at a time.

Mission Statement

At SVEP, we are committed to demystifying the voting process by providing clear and accessible information on where and how to vote, understanding how our government functions, and what to expect on the ballot in November. Our goal is to foster an informed electorate that can make confident and knowledgeable decisions at the polls. Through workshops, informational materials, and community outreach, we strive to enhance civic participation and strengthen our democracy.

We believe that informed citizens are the cornerstone of a healthy democracy, and we are dedicated to ensuring that everyone in our community has the tools and knowledge they need to exercise their right to vote effectively.

Our Team

Chris Cotrutsa

Founder

Chris is a current second-year political science major at UC Santa Cruz. With a deep passion for civic engagement, Chris founded SVEP with a mission to empower his community with essential knowledge about voting and government processes. He’s eager to meet with the community and create new connections! In his free time, he enjoys basketball or trying out new recipes!

Taha Maki

Collaborative Partner

Taha is a dedicated and driven individual with strong educational foundation and hands-on experience in engineering and customer service roles. He’s passionate about grass roots projects and applying skills and knowledge to leave an everlasting impact on the world.

Evan Yuan

Evan is a current sophomore at the University of California, San Diego. He is very passionate about education, civic engagement, and social change. In his free time, Evan likes to explore new cities, binge watch tv, and spend time with animals of all kinds.

Eugene Bertrand

Social Media Architect and Outreach Specialist

Eugene is a second-year computer engineering student at UC Santa Cruz! He’s passionate about applying his skills and knowledge to make a meaningful impact in the field of computer engineering. He’s highly motivated and continually seeking opportunities to learn and grow. He’s also eager in contributing to cutting-edge projects that push the boundaries of technology. In his spare time, he enjoys lifting weights, playing sports, and watching movies!

Anthony Nguyen

Website Designer

Anthony is a second-year business management economics and accounting focused student at UC Santa Cruz. Born and raised in Oakland, CA, Anthony aspires to leave a profound impact on society by advancing personal development, health, and wellness. At SACVEP, he helps manage and develop our webpage, which compiles all of our tools and resources in one place. During his free time, he enjoys weightlifting, writing, and watching football.
